This time around we are getting to know Silopanna Artist, the Baby Grand. The Baby Grand is a local musician and a one man band! Keep reading to find out when he feels he can be 100% himself, which Silopanna artist has inspired him and who he is most excited to see, and more interesting, fun facts!
Where are you from?
I was born in Washington DC and grew up just over the line in Silver Spring, MD.
What’s the story behind your band name?
I really admire Butch Walker and his live performances are amazing. I wanted my live performances to have the same emotional impact as his full band shows even though I am a solo artist. I was trying to come up with a band name and my sister said well think of Butch as a Grand Piano and you are like a Baby Grand and it just fit.
What do you enjoy most about performing live for fans?
When I’m on stage is the only place where I feel like I can really be 100% myself.
Which Rams Head venue is your favorite and why?
I love Rams Head Live because the staff there are awesome and there is a great atmosphere.
If you only had one hour in the Annapolis area, what exactly would you do?
Get a coffee and walk around by the water.
Which fellow artist are you most excited to see perform at Silopanna?
Dashboard Confessional, because Chris Carrabba has been a big inspiration and I’ve always been a fan. Being able to play the festival with him is really exciting.
What are you looking forward to most about playing this year’s Silopanna Music Festival?
Getting the opportunity to play in front of new people, Silopanna has a really good variety of artists and band styles playing which will bring out a good mix of people.
If you could only pack 3 things while going on tour, what would they be?
Toothbrush, a bar of soap and cookies because I care about hygiene and I love cookies.
If you had to listen to one song straight for 24 hours, what would it be?
This is the song that never ends, yes it just goes on and on my friend, some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they’ll continue singing it forever just because…
But really if I could only listen to one song for 24 hours straight it would have to be Strong by London Grammar, it literally fits every mood.
If you had to eat one sandwich everyday for the rest of the year, what exactly would be on it?
I literally order a turkey club sandwich almost every day so I guess there’s your answer
