Meet, Skribe… Local band who will be performing at this year’s Silopanna Music Festival. Skribe is no stranger to Rams Head, playing the Rams Head Annapolis Tavern Patio every Sunday this summer. Get to know the band, the story behind the band name, their Kazoo sponsorship, and more in their interview below!
Where are you from?
The land of pleasant living.
What’s the story behind your band name?
Skribe’s frontman Aaron earned the name while he was house (graphic) artist at the infamous Whiskey club in Annapolis. It stuck.
What do you enjoy most about performing live for fans?
When everybody is singing or kazoo-ing along with us. Good energy from the crowd is always what makes our set memorable but being able to hear a sea of kazoos or folks singing along…that’s unreal. We’ve inked a sponsorship deal with Kazoos.com & they’ll be stocking us up for Silopanna! Free skribe kazoos for everyone who comes to see us!
Which Rams Head venue is your favorite and why?
We love playing the Rams Head Tavern patio in Annapolis. Been rocking every Sunday (excluding the 1st of the month ~ the Mighty Gecko’s) & we look forward to it every week. There’s been talk of recording a Live on the Rams Head patio EP in the near future…we just love the acoustics & vibe out there.
If you only had one hour in the Annapolis area, what exactly would you do?
I would uncomfortably confront every bar owner that owes us money with a spiked baseball bat.
Which fellow artist are you most excited to see perform at Silopanna?
I have always deeply wanted to experience The Flaming Lips…and I’d never miss a chance to see our friends Pasadena & Sweet Leda in action! I get a lot of inspiration from them.
What are you looking forward to most about playing this year’s Silopanna Music Festival?
We are going to tally jorts.
If you could only pack 3 things while going on tour, what would they be?
Drawing pad, panini machine, miniature Reggie Watts.
If you had to listen to one song straight for 24 hours, what would it be?
‘7 skies H3’ is that 24 hour long song that the Flaming Lips put out, sounds like a good opportunity for that.
If you had to eat one sandwich everyday for the rest of the year, what exactly would be on it?
Be sure to check out Skribe, as well as many other artists including the Flaming Lips, Dashboard Confessional, Matt & Kim, and many more August 16, 2014 at the Silopanna Music Festival! Tickets on sale now!
