Get to Know Silopanna Artist: Jimmie’s Chicken Shack

And the Get to Know Series continues! This time we are featuring Silopanna Music Festival Artist, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack. Jimi HaHa of Jimmies Chicken Shack answers questions regarding the band’s background, his favorite Rams Head venues, Annapolis, and Silopanna! We found his answers surprising, interesting, and exciting and hope you enjoy learning more about Jimi and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack just as much as we did!

Where are you from?

What’s the story behind your band name?
It was a blues joint in Harlem that Malcom X used to deal drugs out of when he was known as Red. Charlie Parker and Redd Foxx worked in the kitchen.

What do you enjoy most about performing live for fans?
All of the hundred dollar bills people throw on stage.

Which Rams Head venue is your favorite and why?
Live because we have great shows there. On Stage because I used to work in the kitchen at this original Rams Head before the On Stage was there. It was just the basement bar and and the patio. I actually lived in my mini van behind there for a little while.

If you only had one hour in the Annapolis area, what exactly would you do?
Steal…I mean borrow someone’s boat and go catch some rockfish.

Which fellow artist are you most excited to see perform at Silopanna?
School of Rock because those little kids are bad asses.

What are you looking forward to most about playing this year’s Silopanna Music Festival?
All of the hundred dollar bills people will throw on stage.

If you could only pack 3 things while going on tour, what would they be?
Underwear.  Socks.  Beef jerky.

If you had to listen to one song straight for 24 hours, what would it be?
The Rainbow Connection by Kermit de Frog.

If you had to eat one sandwich everyday for the rest of the year, what exactly would be on it?
A rockfish sandwich with two pieces of rockfish as the bread.
