We can’t get enough of our local artists who will be performing at this years Silopanna Music Festival… So we decided to put together a Get to Know Series featuring each of them! From questions regarding the bands’ backgrounds, Rams Head venues, Annapolis, and Silopanna, we’re sure you’ll be able to learn a little something about these amazing artists!
This post features the band, Sweet Leda. They have answered a series of questions and we hope you enjoy reading the answers just as much as we did!
Where are you from?
We are all from Maryland! Annapolis is pretty much in the middle of where we all live. Jaime and Julie are in the Dena, Omar is in Centreville, and Don is looking to move to Annapolis asap!
What’s the story behind your band name?
Oh goodness! It’s a really long but beautiful story about family and music. Luckily I already have it typed up in a blog: http://sweetleda.com/how-we-got-our-name/
What do you enjoy most about performing live for fans?
Performing for a crowd is unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced. It feels special and unique and it’s different every time.
Which Rams Head venue is your favorite and why?
Yikes. I hate to choose favorites! We have two. We love Rams Head On Stage because it’s so intimate and the audience is always so attentive and excited about the music. We also love Rams Head Live because of the memories. We love being a part of the Pirate Rob Bday bash each year. And the staff is just so outstanding! They’re always so sweet to us!
If you only had one hour in the Annapolis area, what exactly would you do?
Hang out at Annapolis Canoe and Kayak. Best place ever! And the owner is an angel. We’d go paddling and enjoy some beer and grilled food in the parking lot.
Which fellow artist are you most excited to see perform at Silopanna?
I personally am excited to see Matt and Kim; I hear they’re a blast. But most of all, we’re just happy to support our local pals.
What are you looking forward to most about playing this year’s Silopanna Music Festival?
A: Getting there early and staying late. Playing an Annapolis show is like playing a family reunion. The whole MD music family shows up and just parties together. There’s really nothing else like it!
If you could only pack 3 things while going on tour, what would they be?
Julie: my chicken purse, a bag of accessories, and Ibuprofen. Oh wait, that’s not right. I’d pack Jaime, Don, and Omar of course!
Jaime: Three Little Birds
Don: a facemask, a large stuffed bird, and a coffee maker
Omar: toothbrush, iPod, deodorant
Be sure to check out Sweet Leda, as well as many other artists including the Flaming Lips, Dashboard Confessional, Matt & Kim, and many more August 16, 2014 at the Silopanna Music Festival! Tickets on sale now!
