Octoberfest and Spiced Harvest Ale: Your Favorite Fall Seasonals Are Back This August

Sometimes we hate to admit it, especially when we’re enjoying this beautiful weather, but fall approaching doesn’t seem so bad when we take in to account that our favorite fall seasonals are back! This month we’re bringing you two beer release parties (yes, two!): Dominion Octoberfest this Thursday, August 1st and Fordham Spiced Harvest Ale on August 15th.

Join us on the 1st from 4-6 PM for $5 commemorative glasses and $1 additional pours. Our special, one night only food pairing for the beer release is a baked pretzel loaded with cheddar and bacon with Octoberfest mustard for dipping for $5. (We’ll take two!)

Octoberfest is modeled after a traditional German Maerzen. This amber colored lager contains three hop varieties, Tradition, Saaz, and Hallertau, and eight malts, including Vienna, Munich, Caramunich, Wheat, Dark Crystal, Carafoam and Chocolate. It is 6.0% ABV and 20 IBUs.

Casey Hollingsworth, Dominion Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said “Dominion Octoberfest is that beer that people seem to look forward to every year. It’s truly a tradition at the brewery and craft beer drinkers have really come to respect our interpretation of the style. It’s also a transitional time for beer as people begin moving from lighter style wheat beers and Pilsners to more full-bodied and flavorful offerings.”

Two weeks later we’ll be releasing Fordham’s Spiced Harvest Ale again, from 4-6 PM with $5 glasses and first fill-up, and $1 additional pours. Spiced Harvest Ale weighs in at 6.6% abv, is light Amber in color with a medium body, spiced with Cinnamon, Ginger, Clove, Allspice and Pumpkin.  The Microbrewed Beer of The Month Club said, “It’s that time of year again, when brewers begin releasing their fall seasonals – many of them pumpkin beers. Fordham’s fall brew is indeed made with pumpkin, but it’s the spices – allspice, clove, cinnamon, and ginger – that stole the show for us.”

Remember last year when it flew off the shelves? Fordham brewed twice the amount of beer they did the year prior and even then, finding Spiced Harvest Ale in a liquor store was a small victory. We even heard stories of people finding six packs in their local liquor store but not telling their friends or family to keep the stash to themselves. When we said your favorite fall seasonal, we weren’t kidding! Our food pairing is a pumpkin croistini: Crispy crostini topped with fresh pumpkin relish for $4.
