Rams Head Tavern Wins Craft Beer Program of the Year

The Restaurant Association of Maryland (RAM) held their 2013 Stars of the Industry Award Gala last night. I attended the event on behalf of Rams Head Tavern Annapolis as we were nominated for Craft Beer Program of the Year. The theme of the night was Fire & Ice.

After arriving to Martin’s West we were greeted by the helpful RAM staff and directed towards the cocktail reception. The energy was incredible as we made our way to the sounds of Cultura Plenera, a Puerto Rican folk band.

The cocktail reception was a foodie’s dream with a dozen Maryland restaurants serving up appetizers. My favorites included a small salmon BLT appetizer (it reminded me a bit of the Salmon BLT offered at the Roadhouse) from The Rumor Mill Fusion Bar & Restaurant. Of course, we had to stop by Ruth’s Chris who served up shrimp in a cream sauce over mashed potatoes. We also loved the mini reubens EVO Public House was offering that we may or may not have gone back two times. My husband was particularly excited about the sausage crostinis being served by Kloby’s Smokehouse. There was also a raw bar complete with cocktail shrimp and raw oysters.

The main focus of the cocktail hour were the Fireball Whiskey and the Status Vodka bars. They fit in perfectly with the ‘Fire & Ice’ theme and the drinks were delicious.

After the cocktail reception, we moved on to the award portion of the evening. We were seated with CJ’s Crabhouse and Restaurant, who was being inducted into the RAM Hall of Honor and Grapeseed American Bistro and Wine Bar, who was nominated for Restauranteur of the Year. We heard from Marshall Weston, President & CEO of RAM as well as other key speakers. The award ceremony began and the anticipation in the room grew stronger. They finally got to the Craft Beer Program category and…. WE WON!

After the awards portion, dinner was served, and as expected it was fantastic. We enjoyed chicken summer rolls for our appetizer and beef tenderloin and a Maryland crab cake for our entree. Dessert followed with an ice cream bar and my personal favorite, chocolate dipped strawberries. Another highlight of the evening was receiving a special edition Natty Boh beer can in honor of Scunny McCusker. Read more about the limited cans here. We finished the night off with some dancing and a final toast.

We were so honored to receive the award for Craft Beer Program of the Year as we were surrounded by so many fantastic restaurants last night.
At Rams Head we’re all about Food, Fun, & Beer and we strive each day to live up to this motto. We’re especially fond of the beer we serve and were so humbled to be recognized for it. We appreciate all of our Ram Fans and want to thank everyone who voted for us! We’re looking forward to everything this upcoming year has to offer AND after 22 years bringing our World Beer Club in to the digital age.
