Beer Dinner featuring Lagunitas Brewing Company

Come hungry & thirsty, folks – 5 courses & 8 beers.  Your Host:  Casey Hollingsworth

At Rams Head, it’s always been about the beer.  Before the addition of the Fordham Brewing Company in 1995, there had always been 100 beers to enjoy under our rooftop.  Our commitment to beer is the reasoning for our World Beer Club, supporting the education of beers from across the globe.   As part of our loyalty to great beer, we have welcomed numerous craft brews into our 100+ beer mix over the years.

We have, however, terrible at putting on regular beer dinners.  Call it too many beers in the air, lack of abv organization or just plain hungover – we’ve had a not-so-regular commitment to beer dinners.

But in 2013, we’ve teamed with our friends at Fordham / Dominion Brewing to put together a series of dinners.  Yes, you heard it right folks – a series.  That means a commitment.  Something you can look forward to time and time again.   And this series is about inviting other breweries to join us for an evening of education (if you want to be educated), good cheer (beer, beer & more beer) and a specialty menu (it will knock your socks off).

So join us this Thursday, March 7th when EAST MEETS WEST in the first of the 2013 beer dinner series at Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis.  The evening, featuring Lagunita’s Brewing Co. (West) and Fordham / Dominion Brewing (East), will match up for an evening of food, fun & beer.

This friendly evening will be one for the ages as we’ll pair 8 beers w/ 5 courses. How will we do that you ask? Well, the boys at the brewery brainstormed over a few pints and decided that playing by all the rules is boring.  After matching the beers, Rams Head Executive Chef Brent “Turbo” Shellem concocted a menu to match – may your palate be humbled!

And just in case you’ve been living in a dark, craft brewery hole (like me) – here are some interesting facts about Lagunitas:

  1. Since the mid-2000s, Lagunitas has been one of the fastest-growing craft breweries in the United States.
  2. The brewery was founded in 1993 by Tony Magee in Lagunitas, California and moved a year later to nearby Petaluma, California when they quickly outgrew their original rural West Marin location.
  3. They did an entire video about their couch moving from California to Chicago. Watch it here.
  4. They have quite the commitment to their $16 butterfly bottle opener.
  5. BeerAdvocate.com rates them 91/Exceptional
