Introducing Rams Head’s First Annual Rammie Awards!

From the Oscars to the Grammys, it doesn’t matter if you’re a music lover, a movie buff or somewhere in between, there’s an awards show for everyone.

You’ve got your Emmys, your Tonys, your AMAs and your CMAs, your BETs, MTV’s VMAs and MTV’s Movie Awards (huh?), the Teen Choice Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the People’s Choice Awards, the Clio Awards for achievement in advertising, our own local “Wammies” for the D.C. metro area music lovers, and we now even have the Razzies, an award show focused on recognition of the worst in film.

Even with all of those wonderful awards shows, we here at Rams Head didn’t feel like the best regional LIVE music scene was getting the love it deserves.  So, in order to celebrate the best live music in the area, we are bringing you the long overdue RAMMIES!!

It’s always fun to revisit “Most Memorable Moments” of awards shows of years past. Remember the infamous streaker of the 1974 Oscar ceremony where David Niven was hosting?

And the drama at the VMA show in 2009 where Kanye West stormed the stage just after Taylor Swift won the first award for Best Female Video? He cut the teen singer off, grabbing the mic and protested in support of Beyoncé.  Oh, the horror.

And remember Bjork’s bizarre swan dress back in 2001 at the 73rd Academy Awards?

So without further adieu we now present you with the First Annual Rammie Awards! So put on your ball gowns and tuxes and go sit in front of your computer and vote! Every vote counts! That, and when you vote you are automatically entered to win tickets to a show of your choice at each of our three music venues: Rams Head On Stage, Rams Head Live in Baltimore, and Pier 6 Pavillion.  So everyone’s a winner! (okay, not really…).

Category winners will be announced on February 18th, along with our big prize-winner.  But I won’t promise that Brandon will be hatched out of an egg when we announce, as Lady Gaga was in that attention grabbing gimmick at the 2011 Grammys:

or that Royal will show up to work in a Cher-inspired costume that day:

But we’ll drum up some sort of excitement!  Or, we’ll just go grab a Hoodwinked Stout at the Tavern for happy hour afterwards.
