HUGE new music Tuesday!

It’s our favorite day of the week – New Music Tuesday!

The weeks in September and October are traditionally large targets for the biggest artists in the biz!

Today marks just one of several big weeks in one of the largest new music release months of the  year. Here are a few highlights:

Ben Folds Five release their first new album in over 9 years, The Sound of The Life of The Mind. The trio ( yes — seriously) has reunited after a hiatus which saw Ben Folds go solo, flourishing immediately, floundering a bit eventually, but ultimately creating an entire fan base over the past near-decade separate enough for this to be an interesting experiment to see if the singer’s new fans appreciate BFF’s fuzz-bass driven piano rock. It’s hard not to love the lead-off single, “Do It Anyway” and it’s accompanying, charming video featuring The Fraggles.

Singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham (appearing at Rams Head Live on Oct. 14, tickets available here: http://www.ramsheadlive.com/event/144493/) releases his new album,  Tomorrowland. Rolling Stone says, “Ryan Bingham is not messing around. On his new track “Guess Who’s Knocking,” the Americana singer-songwriter snarls, “Guess who’s knocking on the door?/ It’s me motherfucker, I’m knocking on the door,” with startling conviction.  Heavy, jagged guitars crash over Bingham’s gruff shouts as rugged riffs soar and weave over the rambling percussion. Bingham had been stewing on the track for a while, but the bold lyrics came instantaneously. “I had this melody in my head for over a year but never wrote any lyrics for it,” says Bingham. “One day during a break in the studio the words just came out as I was playing the riff on the guitar. And all of a sudden the song was there.” ”

The Killers return with their long awaiting fourth proper studio album Battle Born, which contains the hit song “Runaways,” which we’ve all been enjoying on 103.1 WRNR for the past several weeks.
