1989 was a great year in our opinion. The first episodes of the Simpsons were shown, the Berlin wall came down, and you could buy a Sega Genesis for $189.95. Phil Collins, Madonna, Duran Duran,GarthBrooks, Elvis Costello, New Kids On The Block, and Depeche Mode were topping the charts. You could buy a gallon of gas for 97 cents and a postage stamp for only 25.
But best of all… Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis opened its doors.
The tavern sat 30 customers, the patio sat 10, and there were only 5 employees. Rams Head only served beer at the time (but boasted 100 world famous bottled beers!) and offered a “make your own sandwich” service for 35 cents an ounce.
We love reliving the old days and on September 15th we’re partying like its 1989!
